Diva has a Bachelor in Biotechnology from La Sapienza and a PhD in Bioinformatics from the University of Cambridge. She was also part of the last class of the Master “In The Boardroom 4.0”, a course prepping women executives to take part in international and national boardrooms. Diva attended the NASA university program Singularity University in 2010, and has been an honorary member of the Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club since 2013. She was nominated “Top 50 Women in European Tech” by Forbes in 2018 and has given two TEDx talks, one in Rome (2017) and one in Matera (2018). She was also awarded the Young Global Innovator Award by MIT Tech Review in 2017 and has worked with Huawei on their artificial intelligence campaign (2017) as well as with Land Rover on their sustainability campaign (2019). In 2019 Diva was awarded the Pleiade International Award in the field of Innovation and New Technologies. The beginning The concept of Caia starts while our CEO, Dr. Diva Tommei, completes her doctorate in Computational Biology at Cambridge. Everyday Diva would sit at her desk in a gloomy office, watching others on the street outside enjoying the natural light and sunshine. Lucy is born Instead of being resigned to a life under fluorescent bulbs, Diva gets to work on Lucy – Caia’s predecessor. She comes up with the first designs for the bright little robot that will go on to help her harness the power of the sun. Lucy goes to America! Diva, Lucy, and the whole Solenica team heads to the Qualcomm Robotics Accelerator powered by Techstars for one exhausting, amazing summer that will shape the company for years to come. Caia (version 2.0) Caia is Lucy all grown up! With the help of a talented team of dedicated designers and engineers, Caia comes to life. She is the final evolution of years of hard work and is now close to being in your home or office! Introducing Caia Traditional natural lighting solutions are extremely expensive and often not feasible for large or multi-storied buildings. Introducing Caia, the natural lighting robot that requires no professional installation.
